Hartsfield-Jackson to Hold Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for 9L End-Around Taxiway
ATL is the second airport in the country to have two end-around taxiways
POST-SECURITY EVENT – MEDIA MUST RSVP AT LINK BELOW
ATLANTA – Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 1 to commemorate the completion of the 9L End-Around Taxiway. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, Airport General Manager Balram “B” Bheodari, ATL senior leadership, and representatives from construction partner C.W. Matthews will provide remarks. The event will conclude with a water cannon salute.
Dubbed Taxiway Whiskey, the three-quarter-mile taxiway will increase efficiency as it reduces the number of runway crossings. Runway crossings increase the risk of airfield collisions and add to the taxiing time for aircraft. This will be the second end-around taxiway at the Airport, making ATL one of only two airports in the United States with two.
